Using the link sent to your email after reserving a booking, log in to our portal to register your booking, upload your identification documents and pay. (You must complete this step to confirm your booking).

Join the scheduled Teams meeting where our verification officer will guide you through the verification of identity process.

Note: For the interview, you will need to grab a device capable of connecting to a Microsoft Teams meeting and have ready your Identity Documents which must include your current Australian driver licence and passport (not more than 2 years expired).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is an verification of identity check required? The law requires parties to property transactions to have their identity verified. This helps to ensure trust and safety.

I haven’t had to do this before. Why now? A verification of identity check may not have been a requirement the last time you bought or sold a property. The law now requires this step be undertaken.

How long will the appointment take? Your verification of identity check should only take 15 minutes. The appointment will be conducted by a specially trained representative from Cornwalls using Microsoft technology.

What do I need for the VOI meeting? By proceeding with booking your VOI via our portal, you confirm that you will have ready for your VOI booking:

  • a computer or mobile device with a working video camera;
  • your current Australian driver licence; and
  • your passport (not more than 2 years expired).
  • a printed and unsigned copy of each Land Registry Document (if applicable – see below).

IMPORTANT: You must have both forms of original identification. To validly and compliantly complete the VOI session, you must have all the above items ready. If not, it may be necessary to cancel and book another VOI session which will incur a new booking fee. There are no refunds for any invalid, non-compliant, cancelled or missed VOI bookings.

Land Registry Documents?When you complete your verification of identity, if you are doing so for the purpose of signing a:

  • Client authorisation form;
  • Mortgage of land form; or
  • Transfer of land form

You will need to have this document ready for signing during your meeting with us. During the meeting, we will record you signing this document. We may also capture the signing of any other case or matter related documents during the verification of identity meeting.

IMPORTANT: If you are undertaking a VOI for the purposes of a mortgage of land, you must have printed single sided and ready for signing each mortgage of land document. A video recording of you signing this document will be taken during your VOI session.

​​Are copies of ID documents acceptable? You must upload copies of your identification documents via our portal and then produce the originals of those document (not copies) during the verification of identity session.

If your do not produce originals of the identity documents during the meeting, your verification of identity will not pass.

What ID documents are required? You must have a passport (not more than 2 years expired) and a current Australian driver's licence.

What if the ID documents are expired? Australian Passports expired by less than 2 years are acceptable. Otherwise, if your identifications documents have expired, or will be expired at the time of your appointment, you will need to rely on other categories to achieve the 100 points of identification documents.

If you cannot produce 100 points of identification documents, you will need to cancel your appointment and renew your identification documents so that you have 100 points of identification documents, before being able to complete your verification of identity remotely with us.

Will you record the interview? Yes, we will record your verification of identity session.

If we are undertaking the verification of identity for one of our clients, the recording is undertaken by us as their agent, it is kept for their benefit and also for our benefit.

The recording also helps demonstrate that you are the same person as shown in your photo ID documents.
